High-precision honed tubes are precision seamless steel tubes manufactured through cold drawing or cold rolling processes, delivering exceptional dimensional accuracy and superior surface finish. Ideal for mechanical structures and hydraulic equipment, these tubes significantly reduce machining time, enhance material utilization, and improve overall product quality. Available in carbon steel, alloy steel, and stainless steel, honed tubes undergo a specialized roller burnishing process that induces residual compressive stress on the surface layer. This not only helps seal micro-cracks and improves corrosion resistance but also delays the initiation or expansion of fatigue cracks, thereby increasing fatigue strength. The hardened surface layer formed during burnishing enhances wear resistance, while the reduced surface roughness ensures better fit and prolonged service life in demanding applications.

Manufacturing Process of Honed & Burnished Seamless Tubes

Our production of honed and burnished seamless tubes follows a stringent, multi-stage manufacturing process to ensure the highest standards of dimensional accuracy, internal finish, and structural integrity. The key steps are outlined below:

★Material Selection & Preparation
High-quality metal billets that meet national standards are selected as raw material. The billets first undergo initial processes including blooming, free forging, and heat treatment to refine the grain structure and improve material properties.

★Straightening & Deep-Hole Drilling
The prepared billets are straightened to ensure uniformity. Subsequently, a deep-hole drilling operation is performed to create a precise through-hole, transforming the solid billet into a rough tubular form.

★Precision Honing
This is a core precision finishing stage. The internal surface of the tube is honed using specialized abrasive stones. This process precisely sizes the inner diameter (ID) to required tolerances and creates a superior, cross-hatched surface finish that is ideal for oil retention and seal longevity.

★External Machining & Finishing
The external surface and ends of the tube are then machined and polished on a lathe. This step brings the outer diameter (OD) to its final specified dimension and required surface quality, ensuring concentricity and a clean external appearance.

5. Quality Assurance & Delivery
Every piston rod is subjected to rigorous final Inspection against strict quality protocols. Upon approval, rods are carefully Packed, Crated, and Prepared for Shipment, guaranteeing they reach you in perfect condition.

1. Dimensional & Geometrical Precision:
The inner diameter tolerance is strictly controlled to standard grades such as H8 (IT8), with H7, H9, H10 also available upon request. Straightness is maintained at ≤0.5 mm/m. These are verified using precision tools like Micrometers, Odd-Flute Micrometers, and Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM).

2. Surface & Material Integrity:
The internal surface finish is guaranteed to be Ra ≤ 0.4 μm, measured by a Surface Roughness Tester. Material composition is confirmed via Direct Reading Spectrometer, while mechanical properties (tensile strength, yield strength, etc.) are validated using a Tensile Testing Machine and Impact Testing Machine. Hardness profiles are checked with Rockwell, Leeb, and Microhardness Testers.

3. Specialized Process Verification:
For tubes requiring internal hard chrome plating, thickness is inspected with a Coating Thickness Gauge. Heat treatment results and microstructural evaluation are performed using a Metallographic Analyzer. Verified by Ultrasonic Flaw Detection, which also screens for internal material defects. Corrosion resistance can be assessed with a Salt Spray Test Machine as needed.

This systematic approach, supported by advanced instrumentation, guarantees that our honed tubes deliver consistent quality and excel in demanding hydraulic and mechanical applications.
